Hydraulic selection and evidence
Compared with the 50 mm model, the MLWP80 has a larger connection and a higher published flow endpoint, but a slightly lower maximum-head endpoint. This is not a complete duty-point comparison. Select from a flow-versus-head test curve for each model, and ensure that the supplied 100 mm alternatives are quoted as separate model numbers.
For a properly documented acceptance test, ISO 9906 describes hydraulic performance acceptance testing for rotodynamic pumps. This reference is a test-method guide, not a claim that MLBE has certified this model to ISO 9906. Obtain the factory test points (flow, head, speed and conditions), curve and model-matched spare-parts drawing for the exact supplied version.

Choosing within the MLWP transfer-pump range
Compare MLWP50, MLWP80, MLWP100 and MLWP100-S using the flow needed at the destination and the hose assembly you can handle. The suffix is important: MLWP100 and MLWP100-S are separate listed configurations, so their engine and performance figures should not be interchanged.
Configuration checklist
- Record the required flow at the delivery point and the vertical difference between the water source and outlet.
- Specify suction and delivery hose diameters, lengths, bends and couplings, together with water quality and expected debris.
- List hoses, strainer, seals and connectors individually so included equipment can be distinguished from optional items.
Will a larger outlet always increase usable irrigation flow?
Only if the complete system supports it. Hose resistance, elevation and outlet requirements still determine the working point. Check the operating curve and the downstream pipework before changing connection size.
Operation and service planning
Install the pump securely and follow the specified priming procedure. Keep the intake clear, check joints for air or water leakage and never run the pump dry. Stop the engine, allow it to cool and release system pressure safely before maintenance.

2-inch and 3-inch petrol water pumps for irrigation
The MLBE MLWP50 and MLWP80 are petrol-powered centrifugal pumps for irrigation and farm water transfer. Both models use an aluminium-alloy pump body, mechanical seal and heavy-duty frame, with an ML170F 212 cc engine and recoil starting.
Choose between MLWP50 and MLWP80
- MLWP50: 2-inch (50 mm) inlet and outlet, published maximum flow of 36 m³/h, maximum head of 28 m and net weight of 23.5 kg.
- MLWP80: 3-inch (80 mm) inlet and outlet, published maximum flow of 60 m³/h, maximum head of 26 m and net weight of 25.5 kg.
Compare the required flow at your working head and the hose arrangement before choosing a connection size. A larger outlet or a higher maximum-flow figure alone does not establish suitability.
Specifications, including the 4-inch models
The two 4-inch (100 mm) variants have different engine and performance specifications:
- MLWP100: listed maximum flow 90 m³/h and maximum head 26 m, with an ML188F 389 cc engine and 52 kg net weight.
- MLWP100-S: listed maximum flow 68 m³/h and maximum head 20 m, with an ML170FB 223 cc engine and 26.6 kg net weight.
Include the complete model and suffix in your enquiry. Matching port sizes do not make the two engines, pump curves or handling requirements interchangeable.
